Hi all --

Since it was cool and breezy this morning, we went directly to the Maintenance Yard, where there was quite a bit of action for a while. One really good thing, many of the birds were cooperatively singing and clambering around in the viney tangles and were well-seen. The most interesting bird was a male BREWSTER'S WARBLER, showing Golden-winged crown, back, wings, wing-bars, but white underparts and dark loral stripe (like a Blue-winged).

Warblers: Black-and-White (3), Black-throated Green (8, one a female gathering nesting material), Black-throated Blue (5), Blackpoll (3, NOT seen), Blue-winged (1), BREWSTER's (1), Chestnut-sided (3), Magnolia (2), Myrtle (~40), Nashville (2), Ovenbird (~6), Parula (3, one a female gathering nesting material), Wilson's (1), Yellowthroat (5). Other birders saw a Blackburnian at the ridge. Interestingly, NO Redstarts...

Other migrants: Greater Yellowlegs (1, fly-over), Broad-winged Hawk (1, fly-over), Black-billed Cuckoo (1, heard only), Yellow-billed Cuckoo (3), Great Crested Flycatcher (2), Veery (2), Scarlet Tanager (8), Baltimore Oriole (6, a nest was found near the Nature Center), Red-eyed Vireo (8), Yellow-throated Vireo (1, heard only), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (4-5), LINCOLN'S SPARROW (1), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (4), Blue Grosbeak (1, immature male), Indigo Bunting (6 or so, males sparring for territory).
