Can't say as I have birded ANWR, but I sure as heck have seen plenty of birds on their way there to breed, and what's more, I've seen their numbers dwindle to a precious few in part because of the sorts of pressures that inevitably come with the sort of actions the Senate is contemplating creating. Just got back from South Carolina, Seabrook Island. Was there in spring last in 1989, when I saw an enormous flock of Red Knot, too many to count. This year, I felt a sad thrill when a flock of 25-30 birds flew by. Come to think of it, I don't think I've EVER seen a Red Knot in Maryland. Though I've seen LOTS of shorebirds here that might use ANWR as a nesting ground.

Destroying ANWR - or even compromising it a bit - will impact Maryland birds. This should be of concern to any Maryland birder.

Just my two cents.
