Just a gentle reminder to all MD Ospeyers -- reports of banded birds (with
a band number or identifiable color-marker such as this swan) should be
reported to the Bird Banding Laboratory at www.pwrc.usgs.gov/bbl and
choose Report a Color Marker or Report a Bird Band. Although it may take
some time, we will try to get a band number to match the color marker,
process the report, and send a Certificate. In this case it would be good
to make one report and then someone can post the banding information to
Osprey as we prefer not to get the same bird reported over and over by the
same person for the same time period.

Cheers,
Kathy

I haven't seen it, but I mentioned the Swan that is being seen at
Schoolhouse Pond this morning to someone who would certaily know about

these things, and she suggested that the swan may be from a captive
breeding/reintroduction program in Canada. Info can be found at the
following web site, and the Swan can be reported there as well:

http://www.wyemarsh.com/swan_sighting.html

The yellow wing tag with a 3-digit number seems to fit this program's
customary methods, though I am not sure if others also use these
particular tags.
