I was so carried away by the O'Brien shorebird book that I enthused
about in my last post that I completely forgot to report a singing
CERULEAN WARBLER near the ANS HQ in Woodend, Jones Mill Rd., Chevy Chase, MD.

The bird was singing very high in a deciduous (and completely leafed
out) tree by the paved hiker/biker path, just about where the mulched
trail from ANS runs into the paved path. As so often happens with
this species, I just could not find it to look at.

Along Rock Creek nearby there was once again an adult YELLOW-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERON, possibly the same one I saw here on April 28, and a
perched BARRED OWL being roundly mobbed by every small bird in the vicinity.
