After reading the kudos about the new Michael O'Brien book, I thought I
would also mention Pete Dunne's new book "Pete Dunne's Essential Field
Guide Companion." 681 pages about birds, but not one photo, not one
diagram, not one drawing, not one map ... just words, which in my
opinion, 'words' are what Mr. Dunne is all about. Oooops, just looked at
the cover, there is a picture of a bird on the cover and I just found 2
identical photos of terns about the size of a quarter.
Each species is covered individually, with info on Status, Distribution,
Movement/Migration, Description, Behavior, Flight, Vocalizations, and
Pertinent Particulars. I will leave it to others with more birding skills
than I have to comment in more detail. I can say that I have been
fascinated with the words.
