The last 24 hours have seen some pretty great migrants in DC. This morning's treat in Fort Bayard was a very cooperative singing BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, who gave me great sunlit looks for several minutes. It was hard to tear myself away from the flame-colored little guy, but there were a couple of other nice birds, too. I had a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK again today, but this time it was a singing male (also really cooperative, giving me a long look at near-eye level).
A Black-throated Blue Warbler was again present and singing, as were plenty of Yellow-rumps (still mostly males, but the females are probably increasing a bit). And a Blue-headed Vireo was there once again (singing today).
One final note: yesterday morning on my way out I heard a White-eyed Vireo for a nice new neighborhood and yard bird.
