On Friday the 5th I responded to Stan Arnold's phone call about the 3
Black-necked Stilts at Pickering Creek. I did,'t have much problem finding
them. There was also a Dunlin and Short-billed Dowitcher present among the
other shorebirds. I was walking back to the parking lot from the viewing
platform and kicked up a Sedge Wren from alongside the mowed trail. It was
cooperative for about a minute before disappearing into the meadow grasses.
Other highlights included Grasshopper Sparrow, Bobwhite, Blue Grosbeak,
Indigo Bunting, and both Orioles.

I returned to Pickering Creek on Sunday with Jim Brighton. One Stilt
remained, it seemed the other two may have moved on.

Good birding,
Hans
