At Milford Mill Park (Baltimore County) today, with Bryce Butler and
later catching up with Joel Martin, there were two real jewels:
1) a Cape May Warbler, seen well - the first I ever saw in this park
in years of birding it, and the first spring Cape May I've seen in
years. We were first drawn to it by a thin song like a Redstart or B&W
Warbler but not quite right. This was in an oak about halfway down the
lower part of the loop.
2) a Bay-breasted Warbler, seen well and singing. This was in an oak
on the upper part of the loop.
We also had great looks at a Rose-breasted Grosbeak. Our 11 solid
species of warblers were:
Nashville Warbler
Northern Parula
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Cape May Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Bay-breasted Warbler
American Redstart
Ovenbird
Common Yellowthroat
Howard Co note from Monday:
There were about 50 Bobolinks on the east side of Underwood Rd off of
Old Frederick Rd about 2 mile west of Rt 32.
