There are county-specific guides for Baltimore, Frederick, Howard, and Montgomery. The area guide that covers a lot of Maryland is Claudia Wilds' book entitled "Finding Birds in the National Capital Area." Although this book is getting quite dated now, there are used copies available from amazon.com and I really recommend this one for your reference shelf.

The MOS website has a section on areas that are good birding locales around the state as well.

There has been a CD of "Maryland Birdlife" prepared by MOS for the 1950 through 1999 period (I think). Hopefully Janet Millenson will give us an idea of availability and cost.

The archives of MDOsprey go back about three years, but if anyone is really interested, I can put all the archives onto a CD (covering the years 1997-present) for $5 or so.

We're still waiting on Mark Hoffman's Worcester County Guide and Bob Ringlers Guide to the Birds of Maryland (hint, hint, you guys!).

I hope this helps.
