While walking in Mt Nebo WMA in Garrett County yesterday morning about 9:30am, we saw what we first thought was a Black-throated Green but it just did not look right (black cap and eye stripe) and certainly did not sing the right song (more of a ta-wheee, ta-wheee, ta-wheee with some other higher-frequency notes after that). The only bird that looked like a possibility in both Sibley and American Bird Conservancy guides) was the Townsend's which Sibly says is a rare visitor here in the east and is often mistaken for a Black-throated Green.

The bird was seen on the road up to the meadow area just past the swamp and off to the right. We saw it for about 15 seconds before it flew off.

Heard Golden-wing Warblers (3 or 4) while crossing through the swampy stretch. Other birds were the usuals for that area (Rose-Breasted Grossbeak, etc.).
