Just after a heavy shower, this afternoon I decided to stop at
Soldier's Delight hoping the cessation of the rain and the emerging
sun would produce a burst of warblers. Indeed it did! From about 5 to
6 PM I saw or heard 13 species of warbler in the small area of the
visitor center and Red Dog Lodge. Unlike most recent days, I got good
looks at most of the warblers, especially a spectacular Blackburnian
Warbler, and a singing Hooded Warbler. The oaks in that area seem
attractive to migrants and are often thin enough to allow decent
looks.

-- Seen warblers were:
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Blackburnian Warbler -really gorgeous, and close, and highly visible!
Blackpoll Warbler - 3+
Black-and-white Warbler
American Redstart
Hooded Warbler - singing male in the woods on the south side of the
visitor center parking area

-- Heard only were:
Prairie Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Ovenbird
Pine Warbler

Also notable were Bluebirds feeding young at box #2 at the head of the
visitor center parking area. A singing Brown Thrasher, several Scarlet
Tanagers singing, and an Acadian Flycatcher.
