Hi.  This place is run away with all names of rodents, including flying squirrels.  The squirrels chew in the walls and end up in my closet sometimes (cute!).  We are very near the Patuxent River.  Please do advise on the matter/s below.  Thanks.

Subject: Owl in Jerich Park, Bowie


This morning at 4:00, I was awakened by an owl calling.  I heard it call about 3 or 4 times.  It sounded like a Long-eared Owl.  Are they still migrating?  It seemed strange.  I've been wondering why with all the woods around I don't hear owls here.  My landlord does keep a lot of outside light on at night, which may bother them.  I know the calls of screeches and great-horneds and barreds, etc.  This was a single monotone "whooooo" that trailed a bit at the end with space between each "who."
