I spent a surprisingly birdy lunchtime (approximately 1 - 2:30) in the
vicinity of the DC World War I memorial. Best sighting was a small
flock (3-4) of Lincoln's Sparrows in the low shrubbery just west of the
memorial. Other birds included:
Great Crested Flycatcher
Eastern Kingbird
Red-eyed Vireo
Brown Thrasher
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Blackpoll Warbler (many, and not shy)
American Redstart
Ovenbird
Common Yellowthroat
Wilson's Warbler
Song Sparrow
and a silent Empid with a bold eye ring and noticeable yellow on both
breast and belly.
