Unexpected visitors to suet

I've noticed unexpected species, Catbird, etc. coming to our suet feeders in Spring, too. The Carolina Wrens we have every Spring seem to stuff their young with suet just before they emerge from the nest.

I wonder if it's high fat/energy content is preferred by parents of soon to be fledging young?
