I birded the two Kenilworths (KP + KAG) starting early this morning. I
did not find any rarities at Kenilworth Park, but I did find 2-3 singing
male Blue Grosbeaks - 1-2 in the "back area" and 1 in the no-mow area
close to the first parking lot. I briefly saw one Eastern Meadowlark in
the no-mow area with a Red-winged Blackbird in pursuit.

A raptor-type bird flushed from the treeline close to the concrete
barriers. From its size and shape I think that it was an owl - very
short tail, kind of chunky, wings long relative to body, but my species
id as Barred Owl is only tentative.

The Aquatic Gardens were mostly quiet, with few birds singing. There
were three singing Prothonotary Warblers - two on the river trail and
one in the ponds area. One White-eyed Vireo was near the sharp bend in
the river trail where it starts to run along the river. It was high tide
so few shorebirds were around. A species list follows.

Green Heron - KP flyover
Osprey - KP
American Kestrel - KP
Killdeer - KP
Spotted Sandpiper - KAG
Yellow-billed Cuckoo - KAG
Barred Owl - KP ?
