Last night Jim Peters led 18 birders on a very nice walk along the wetland trail at Fort McHenry. Two Common Terns were made brief appearances - one perched on an old piling for a couple of minutes. We saw an adult male Baltimore Oriole probing the flowers and floliage of a Multiflora Rose. First year, and adult male Orchard Orioles were found singing in several spots. A pair of Cedar Waxwings flew into a small Mulberry for a quick snack, then disappeared into some nearby trees. Most of the group got to see Yellow-billed Cuckoo and the Great-crested Flycatcher. Thirty-seven species were tallied during this trip.

The Pied-billed Grebe was once again in the main channel. Evidence of nesting has yet to be confirmed.

Thanks to Jim's knowledge, guidance, and expert leadership a lot birders had the opportunity to enjoy this series of evening walks. He will announce the Fall series later this summer - I hope you will be availble to join the fun.

The National Park Service created a page for bird walks under special events at: http://www.nps.gov/fomc/pphtml/eventdetail18475.html
