Still more Black-bellied Whistling Ducks in the mid-Atlantic, this just up on the Virginia Bird list:
"You just knew they were around somewhere, didn't you? A flock of at least 15
BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING DUCKS were present this afternoon on a farm pond in
Suffolk, Va. The location is at the end of a private lane off of Lake Cahoon
Road. The owner says she is willing to permit visitors, provided that they
respect the property and pay attention to the 10 mph speed limit to avoid
disturbing the many horses in the area. I will check back with her tomorrow to
ascertain whether or not the ducks are still present. If you are interested in
trying to see these birds, please contact me off line.
Good birding everyone
David Clark
Norfolk, VA."
Sounds like a real invasion to the NE from their usual range...
