Sorry to be off-topic, but I wanted to get the word out quickly. Some of you 
have received an e-mail from a political candidate that begins "I am 
soliciting you as a member of the Maryland Ornithological Society to 
ascertain whether you would be willing to participate and support my 
campaign efforts."

This individual did NOT receive permission from MOS to contact any of our 
officers or members. MOS does not make available its mailing list to 
outsiders for solicitations of any kind. I phoned this individual and let 
him know that his action was unacceptable and must not be repeated. He 
promised to comply.

Please let me know if any further incidents of this kind occur.
