In the past, I've spotted Henslow Sparrows at the Fairfax Stone in the fields just beyond the stone, which I think is Maryland territory (you'll need GPS and a UGS map to check the border there). Access to Fairfax Stone is from WV on 219 and is about an hour's drive from Deep Creek. It's about four miles from Thomas, WV. Other birding areas nearby include:

Blackwater Falls State Park
Cathedral SP -- an old growth forest
Canaan Valley SP
Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge
Canaan Loop Road (Monongahela National Forest)

Ok, these are all WV venues and should not be discussed on this board. However, if you can't find a Henslow at Fairfax Stone, then head to the Freeland Rd area of the Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge. There have been sightings this year of the HSP in the fields on the gravel road leading to FS-80, which can be accessed from Freeland Rd.

These HSPs were reported on the WV Big Day list and several WV birders of note (Matt Orsie and Casey Rucker) have seen them this year.
