It was quite a morning at the Oxbow!
Jay Sheppard confirmed the Least Terns at the Little Patuxent Oxbow Lake
Nature Preserve this morning. Over a span of about 2 hours, the terns came
and went. The first time Jay saw them there was 3. The next time there was
4. And the last time we counted 6.
Heard the Moorhen once this morning.
Twice saw an adult Least Bittern flying low over the lake. Once it flew
past a standing green heron for a quick comparison.
Swan #960 is still in residence. Here's a message from Harry Lumsden, the
provincial coordinator for the trumpeter swan reintroduction program in
Ontario.

Hi Marcy and Larry,
Thank you for reporting #962, a male, hatched in 2005. He and 960 are
siblings. They have evidently been travelling together and were seen
together at Hillsborough, Ontario last November.
Cheers Harry Lumsden
