I'm a member of the Native Plant Society that Norm mentioned, and I've
been interested in native plants for many years now. One quick tip -
in my experience, the best native plant nursery in our area is Kollars
in Pylesville, Harford County. It would be about a 20 minute drive from
Conowingo. See http://www.kollarnursery.com/ They are friendly,
knowledgeable, honest, and have a great selection at reasonable prices.
They can get you started.

You can also check out the links for "Backyard Birding" on the Cecil
Bird Club's website at
http://www.udel.edu/cecilbirds/sampler.html#backyard

If you have specific questions about any plants, feel free to contact me
directly. I have quite a few reference books etc and I live in Elkton.

Subject: Gardening for butterflies and hummingbirds

I live in the Conowingo area of Md. and am re-hauling my garden. The
area
I want to plant is mostly part-sun, with some shady areas. I am
interested in planting for butterflies and hummingbirds, and need some
suggestions. Please help! Also, I am having a difficult time trying to
find native plants, and plants in general to attract these jewels of
nature. Anyone know of any nurseries, particularly in my area, that
specializes in these types of plants, please let me know. Thanks
