A good friend of mine has expressed a wish to see a Prothonotary Warbler. I
am a fairly novice birder and don't know if this is a realistic goal for
this time of year (or if we should wait until the fall or next spring). I do
know that some warbler species have mostly stopped singing by now and are
more difficult to find.

The Atlas lists PROW as a Probable around here (Sykesville NE), but there
seem to be many Confirmed in the Seneca and Poolesville blocks.

I have searched the MD-Osprey archives, but would appreciate any additional
help in (carefully) locating this species.

I would also love to hear (on or off the list) from anyone who has
maintained a Prothonotary nestbox trail, as I might consider putting up a
few boxes in neighboring Patapsco Valley State Park next year.

Thanks,
