Observations at Hart-Miller Island
July 10, 2006
0745 - 1315
Weather: AM: sunny, 80 degrees

(Many thanks to Maryland Environmental Service for allowing a special survey 
of the interior of the South Cell by johnboat for the Breeding Bird Atlas. 
Without their coordination and logistical support this would not have been 
possible)

Canada Goose - 2
Mute Swan - 5
Wood Duck -  12
Gadwall - 2 (1 male, 1 female)
*AMERICAN BLACK DUCK - 10 (Confirmed: FL - 4 fledged young)
Mallard - ~50
*RUDDY DUCK - 2 (1 male, 1 female) (Possibly Confirmed?: FL - 4 fledged 
young?)
    [distant look - 3 ducked into the Phragmites, 1 dove twice and not seen 
again]
*PIED-BILLED GREBE - too numerous to count
*LEAST BITTERN - 30 (adult) [NEW MD HIGH] (Confirmed: FY - adult carrying 
fish)
Great Blue Heron - 10

Black-crowned Night-Heron - 3 (2 adults, 1 first-year)
