A fairly slow morning along the Anacostia River today, but I did
see my first-of-the-fall Laughing Gulls and Forster's Terns.
Didn't get a count of the gulls (in the 10's), but counted 11
terns, including one very fresh juvenile with extensive brown
on the back. It begged incessantly, but none of the adults
seemed to take notice.
At Kenilworth Park there were c.20 Killdeers and 2 Least
Sandpipers. That giant mutant white and gray goose that's
been around off-and-on for the past few years was back with
the Canadas.
