There was a Monk Parakeet colony in Rehobeth Beach (on Lake Avenue on the 
north side of Silver Lake) for many years.  The last time I saw any was in 
1996.  Don't know why they left.  There was also a Monk Parakeet (single 
bird) that built a nest here in Maryland a year or so ago on a telephone 
pole at the intersection of Red Clay and Route 198 just off the BW Parkway. 
Don't know what happened to him either.
