Warblers are beginning to come in at Rock Creek Park on the Ridge and
in the Maintenance Yard. The yard yielded one Canada Warbler, two
Blue-winged Warblers (first spotted by Gary Allport and Frank
Hawkins), and about six Redstarts. On the Ridge I found the Canada
(2), Blue-wing (2), Back-and-White (2), Redstart (7+), first year
Chestnut-sided (12-15). Jim Lemert also saw an Ovenbird and a
Nashville Warbler.
In addition to the warblers in the yard there were: Red-shouldered
Hawk, numerous Red-eyed Vireos, Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers, Ruby-throated
Hummingbirds, Baltimore Oreoles, House Wrens (6), and Carolina Wrens.
