Dear All
I did a quick pre-work visit to the stables and Maintenance Yard. There
was some very mixed visible migration with a few birds dropping in early
but the lack of sunlight meant that few birds actually came down into the
bushes in the yard itself. So it was hard work seeing birds well. Despite
this there was clearly good stuff to look at and it was quite busy between
7.20 and 8am after which it went quite quiet. The high spots were the
Summer Tanager and four Blackburnians feeding together close up.
The following were the higlights:
Warblers: Black & White 5, Yellow 1, Wilson's 1, Magnolia 3, Blue-winged 1,
Blackburnian 4+, American Redstart 10, Yellowthroat 1, Chestnut-sided 3
Other stuff: Summer Tanager 1, Scarlet Tanager 3, Baltimore Oriole 10, Red-
eyed Vireo 4, Great Crested Flycatcher 1, Pewee 3, Hummer 1 plus the usual
Red-shouldered Hawk and lots of House Wrens.
Vis. mig. Tree Swallow 4, Barn Swallow 2, Chimney Swift 10, Cedar Waxwing
30 (in five parties)
I met Wallace, Gail et al on my way out of the park and they had seen
similar sorts of things on the ridge (see Gail's post); amalgamating our
lists make it look like a pretty good morning!
Roll on the season...
