Some highlights from an MBC field trip to W. Montgomery Co today include:

Violette's Lock:
Black Tern 2
Bald Eagle 2
Black-crown Night Heron 3
6 swallow species (Tree, Bank, Barn, Rough-winged, Cliff, Purple
Martin). At one point, individuals representing all six species landed
on a mid-river "stickup" at same time providing excellent views and a
great chance to compare plumage and size.
We also saw two very distant white colored terns. To far to id. We ran
into Dave Czaplak later in day and he had 2 Forsters Terns on Potomac
earlier in day. Maybe same birds, who knows?

Hughes Rd Polo Fields:
First visit around 9:30 very quiet. Only shorebird were a few Killdeer
plus starlings, cowbirds and Rock Dove. We revisited around 1 pm and
found 2 Buff-breasted SPs, Cliff Swallows and a flyover Common
Nighthawk. This is when we ran into Dave Czaplak who had 2 add'l Buffies
at Summit Hall Turf Farm.

Club Hollow Rd:
Ran into some migrants off Club Hollow Rd.
Eastern Phoebe and Pewee
Red-eyed and Warbling Vireo
Blackburnian Warbler (great look!)
Chestnut-sided Warbler
American Redstart
Black and White Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Black-throated Green Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Blue-grey Gnatcatcher

Patton Turf Farm
Less puddles than I would have expected.
Killdeer, Semi palm Plover, Least SP, American Kestrel, COMMON RAVEN,
and Blue Grosbeak.

After official field trip was over, I went on to Seneca Crk SP off
Montevideo Rd and saw N. Parula, Ovenbird, Black and Whites,
Blackburnian, and a very yellow E. Pewee that I wanted to turn into a
Yellow-bellied FC but overall size, tail and bill length said no. The
Robert Hawkins (Sugarland) Sod Farm) off Rt 107, held Killdeer,
American Kestrel and about 40 Horned Lark.
