Hi all I had an errand on Kent Island yesterday afternoon after
work. While Crossing The Kent Narrows bridge I saw about 40 to 50 birds
fly up off a building where I had the Caspian Terns est . about 20 on Mon
. Must have missed some then . Ater the errand I went to Terrapin park to
kick the bushes for some migrants . That proved to be a wise move on my
part . I hardly got out of the parking lot walking to the picnic area
and the begining of the Cross Island Trail. when there was a lot of avian
activity . 2 hours latter I was still in this general area . Made me
wish I could have been there that morning . Most of the birds were
busy feeding darting out catching insects to dine on . Many were
Redstarts I did my best to id and count .It was my best outting so far
this fall . birds seen

Great Crested Flycatcher 1
Eastern Wood Pewee 2
Carolina Wren 2
Redstart at least 8 two of which were adult male
Black Throated Blue 1 female
CAPE MAY warbler 1 adult Best bird of the outting , a county
and year bird , good look
Chestnut sided 1 or 2
Red Eyed Vireo 4
Blue Gray Gnatcatcher 5
Yellow Billed Cuckoo 1 immature
Baltimore Oriole 1 feeding on necter in Trumpet Creeper flowers
Mocker 2
Brown Thrasher 1
Catbird 3
Cardinal 8
Robin 15
House Finch 6

On the way home as the sun was sinking lower in the Sky I decided to stop
at Kent Narrows to look for and count the actual number Of Black crowned
Night Herons in the pond across Rt 18 from the Remax realastate office
. Upon arrival I saw seven Black crowns in the brush at the waters
edge . After a few minutes while counting 3 foresters Terns and 1 Common
Tern catching few last minute snacks before going to to roost more
Night Herons popped out of the brush .
Total was 14 before flying off to feed for the night . All were
Black Crowns but broken down to ages.
