Hi All,

I birded Anne Arundel County in hopes of find a few new county bird. I first
birded the Patexent North Tract, due to hunting I wasn't able to leave the
road much. Birds were thin. I proceeded on the Severn Run Evironmental Area
and then to Piney Orchard Nature Park in the Piney Orchard housing
developement. Highlights were as follows,

Severn Run
Yellow-billed Cuckoo 2
Willow Flycatcher 1
Veery 1
Swainson' Thrush 1
Wood Thrush 2
Redstart 25
Magnolia Warbler 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler 1
Bay-breasted Warbler 1
Black-throated Green Warbler 2

Piney Orchard
Connecticut Warbler 1
Mourning Warbler 1

I got a picture of the Connecticut Warbler as it popped up in a tree only 15
feet away. I was even more suprised when I ran into a first year Mourning
Warbler only 10 minutes later. I am fairly certain this is the first time I
have ever had them both in the same day! There was more stuff at Piney
Orchard, but I don't have the time to list it. This area is well worth
checking out, the two warblers were near the far end of the Vernal Pool
trail. There were lots of birds along the entire Vernal Pool trail.

Good Birding!

Hans
