And of course, in Britain at least, birders will "count" birds in hand at 
ringing stations and birds which are almost certainly ship-assisted. I recall 
teasing my brother-in-law about travelling to the Liverpool Docks to twitch a 
recently-arrived White-throated Sparrow -- 

As everyone says, it's your list -- just if it's submitted to ABA you need to purge the 
records that  do not meet their (often arbitrary) rules.

For example, I still have Crested Mynah on my personal North American list (hey, 
I went to a lot of trouble to get this species!) but very unhappily took it off 
my "ABA" list. 

I do not have Trumpeter Swan on my MD list though do think the unbanded one 
which showed up at Black Hills a number of years ago was very 
enticing....hmmmm...
