 Hi Folks!

On Friday, 9/15/2006, Matt Hafner and I visited the Pt.Lookout area. A few stops before dawn showed no significant night migration and we were wondering if there would be any migrants at the Point. There may not have been a vocal migration, but certainly some birds had moved. The grove at the Point has obvious migrants: 2 Western Palm Warbers, a Prairie and a Redstart. Matt spotted a small bird coming in off of the Bay: a female WILSON's Warbler. Among the gulls was one first year Lesser Black-backed. More than 80 Common Terns flew over the Point from the Potomac to the Bay. A flock of about 20 Cattle Egrests flew north over the Bay.

Highlights in the park area included:

Great Crested Flycatcher 1
Eastern Kingbird 1
Purple Martin 8 [getting late]

a foray into the Cobb Island area of Charles was disappointingly slow, but at a quick stop at Indian Creek WMA, Charles County the hedgewrow near the parking area had another female WILSON'S WARBLER.

Good Birding!
