While visiting my sister, who lives off Beach Drive in northern
Bethesda, I looked out at her backyard and tracked down a sluggish,
skulking warbler moving between pokeweed and river birch. It dropped
to the ground and three of us had great binoc views of a
yellow-breasted chat eating a small green caterpillar.
In the front yard, our first brown creeper of the season wound around
the maple there.
