When I got up this morning, a female (?) Rubythroated hummingbird
(I don't think it was an immature male, because it had a very white throat.)
was sitting on the feeder, its feathers so puffed out it looked like
a little ball,
shivering the edges of its wings.

"The natural function of the wing is to soar upwards
and carry that which is heavy up to the place where dwells the race of gods.
More than any other thing that pertains to the body
it partakes of the nature of the divine." --Plato
