This morning (Sat, Oct. 28th) Rob Hilton & I spent a little time at the tip
of Hains Point. Highlight was Rob finding an adult BRANT (B. bernicla hrota
- the expected subspecies for the area). The bird flew from the mouth of
the Anacostia and landed on the Potomac between the tip and the airport. It
then swam closer to Hains before taking off and flying back up the
Anacostia. We may have seen it flying down the river a few minutes later,
but weren't sure.

Other highlights included:
1 Horned Grebe (Hains)
2 Pied-billed Grebe (Columbia Island marina)
2 Forster's Terns (Hains)
1 Merlin take a sparrow at Kenilworth Park
2-3 American Kestrels at Kenilworth Park
2-4 Vesper Sparrows at Kenilworth Park
1 American Pipit at Kenilworth Park

Good birding
