For the Montgomery Bird Club, Mike Bowen led 8 of us on a productive morning outing to Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens and the adjacent Kenilworth Park in the District of Columbia. I kept the list for the outing. As you can see from the list at the end of this message, we saw 46 species. The morning was grayer than expected and we had a brief shower, but the birds were pretty cooperative. Highlights included: two Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers (at least one of which was an adult male) chasing each other around and around trees and bushes near the parking lot at KAG for quite a while (behavior none of us had seen before); Red-Shouldered, Coopers, and Sharp-shinned Hawks; two male American Kestrel sitting on soccer goal posts in Kenilworth Park; Palm Warblers of both the eastern and western forms; and lots of Chipping, Song, Swamp, White-Throated, and Field Sparrows.

The full list follows, generated by Cornell's eBird system. I notice many other MDOsprey contributors also use eBird, and I have a question for you about your experiences with the system. Usually when I submit my observations, I ask eBird to send me an email report of my observations. I have found that, while eBird seems to generate the email promptly and send it, I don't receive it in my inbox until about 24 hours later. Have any of you had this problem? I get my email through Verizon.

Thanks.

P.S. As you see below, eBird has KAG in their system misspelled and misnamed. I have written to them about this.
