Tragically, and not without irony (having just posted about
preventing bird strikes), a Hermit Thrush just fatally
struck one of our unprotected breakfast room windows. This
was a window facing the street, on the opposite side of the
house where the feeders are. Guess I'll be buying more
CollidEscape...

Is any organization likely to want the specimen? There are
no leg bands or anything like that.

Immediately after the bird fell to the ground, a mockingbird
approached it making a loud "check" call and flicking its
wings. It continued this for a while and then jumped onto
the thrush and back off, as if to see if it was still alive.
Has anyone noted this type of behaviour before?
