After my posting yesterday about a possible Gyrfalcon in Towson a couple of people wrote to ask me what "jessies" are. Well, I spelt it wrong, they are jesses, which are thin leather straps used in falconry to tether a bird of prey.  An escaped falconry bird can usually be distinguished by these straps dangling from the bird's legs.

Sorry for the confusion.
