I checked out Little Seneca Lake in Black Hill Regional Park,
Montgomery County, this morning. Still not too many waterfowl. Most
numerous were RUDDY DUCK and BUFFLEHEAD, with 100 or more of both
species. At least a half dozen PIED-BILLED GREBE here and there. I
only found 3 RING-NECKED DUCK, which is a species that usually is
present here in good numbers in the winter.

More interesting was a group of 4 birds right in the middle of the
lake. Scope views revealed these to be 3 RED-BREASTED MERGANSER
females and a HORNED GREBE.

A little later this morning, I found a single HORNED GREBE with
Canada Geese near the boat landing on Clopper Lake, which is the lake
in Seneca Creek State Park, Gaithersburg.

Good Thanksgiving Birding to all (in the rain!)
