Welcome to global warming. As I sweated my way around the lake across the
road today, there were some Hoodies and Ringnecks mixed in with the usual
Canada geese. I don't search thru flocks of geese trying to sort out
subspecies. To me they're all your usual CAGO until some expert comes along
and points out the odd ones to me. Good for them.
However what took me aback today was the turtles out sunning themselves.
Folks, today is December 14. This ain't suppose to happen. That lake should
be frozen over about now and the turtles should be somewhere in the bottom
of it hibernating. I have heard Gray Tree Frogs, Wood Frogs and a possible
Spring Peeper within the last week or so.
And if nobody buys my global warming theory - me and Al Gore are the
only ones that do - check this out. There are absolutely no glaciers left in
Carroll County. Even the very highest elevations here are now devoid of
them. Go figure. ;-)
