Jerry,
I've been, in addition to birding, "naturalizing" all the various critters and plants including
photographing 'em since being separated from the Air Force on April Fool's Day of '70. At
some point, over a period of at least 20 yrs., I decided it'd be a fun thing if I could spot any
turtles basking/sunning, etc., at least one time each month of the calendar year. Off the
top of my head, I'd wager I was successful half the time! It doesn't take much of a warm-
ing period for them to pop up to see what gives. Of, course, a few times, I counted them
when all I could see was the head poking out of the water for a look-see and welcome in-
take of air. Once things are iced over pretty good, then all bets are off.
