Hi all. I met up with Nacole Marquess Wilson today at the North East town
Park. Being that she was coming up from Texas, she was really gunning for a
Iceland Gull. I got there about 5 minutes before she did and I had found right
away. It was on the Creek side sand flats. She did make it there before they
all flew up, probably scared by one of the local Bald Eagles. She did manage to
get a great look and did get to compare before it left.
When everything settled back down we ended up with an adult Lesser Black-
backed Gull landing about 50 to 75 yards away. Nice bird.
As we were leaving we decided to check out the Geese swimming around in
the harbor. She did mention that Cackling would be a lifer for her. Well, this is
the first for me. We had two, that were hanging around together in the flock.
I would bet that they will be there all winter. There is aways a flock of Canada
Geese down there in the winter. I have never seen a pair of Cacklings before
thou. It truly was a nice treat. They stuck together like glue. Very easy to
pick out from the rest of the Geese.
