Hi Everyone,

I spent a few hours birding with my girlfriend Becky today, focusing on
lost geese in Anne Arundel and Prince George's Counties. We made two stops
at Merkle for the Ross's Goose - perhaps 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - and
also checked many of the surrounding fields. Although we didn't find the
Ross's Goose, there were thousands of geese throughout the area. I expect
it's still around, especially with all the rain. If you don't find the
Ross's at Merkle, be sure to check the intersection of Croom and
Nottingham, where it's been seen at least once. This field held geese both
times we drove past it. Our concession prizes were 2 RICHARDSON'S GEESE at
the pond behind the visitor's center and a flock of 15 WILD TURKEYs in a
field off Croom Road.

We had better luck around North Beach (Calvert Co.), spotting a number of
COMMON GOLDENEYE and GREATER SCAUP on our way to Herrington Harbor (Anne
Arundel Co.). We found the ATLANTIC BRANT at the pond near the harbor
feeding with a small group of Canada Geese and Mallards. A couple hundred
Canada Geese were feeding in the nearby field, while 5 TUNDRA SWANs rested
on the Bay. The Brant was found by Sen~or Stasz and Co. on 12/17. Thanks,
Stasz!

Happy Holidays!

Bill
