Of course you can be lazy like me and kayak from the ramp at West Ocean City to the north end of Assateague...all of about 1/4 mile and usually good wave conditions.  From there it is about 100 yards of walking to where there are always Ipswich Sparrows  ;-)

Jim Brighton and I have made the trek about six times in the last four years. Regarding the Ipswich Sparrow, we have found the biggest concentrations to be between maker post 3.5 to 6.0. Of those, the birds are generaly between the marsh and the dunes, more or less in the center of the island. The walk is certainly worth paying the price for in aches and pain.
