Also at Schoolhouse Pond this morning were 2 adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls and several Greater Black-backs of different ages. I visited Merkle as well but was birding with my two sons and they'd had enough by then and we only stayed 15 minutes or so. They did enjoy Schoolhouse Pond though, highlights being the Trumpeter Swan that was hanging out at the bus stop (seen thanks to a tip from Rob Hilton: I would not have thought to look there), a flyover young Bald Eagle as well as the Cackling Goose (which gave really nice views) plus the very tame feral geese and duck.

I visited Prince George's County today with Sarel Cousins. We were greeted with dense fog at first before it cleared late in the morning and early afternoon. Other observers seen during the day included Rob Hilton, Clive Harris, Stan & Elaine Arnold, Derek Richardson, Helen Patton, and more I cannot recall.

Schoolhouse Pond, Upper Marlboro:

Cackling Goose 1 (found by Clive Harris)
Canada Goose 600
Mute Swan 1
Trumpeter Swan 1
Mallard 25
Lesser Scaup 1 female
Red-breasted Merganser 1 male
DC Cormorant 2
Great Blue Heron 3
Great Egret 1
Coot 2
Killdeer 1
Laughing Gull 2
Ring-billed Gull 200
Herring Gull 50
Many other gulls flying over.

Merkle Sanctuary:

Canada Goose 5-10,000
Gadwall 10
Mallard 20
Ring-necked Duck 1 male
Great Blue Heron 1
Coot 1

I intended to visit other locations but had lost too much time waiting for the fog to clear.
