I took the first chance I had this break to go over to the Eastern Shore today. I dipped on the Kingbird - it was really windy most of the day so I didn't think chances were all that good. First stop was Hurlock. Just west of the town a flock of c 3000 Snow Geese had two ROSS'S GEESE, one adult and one young bird. The ponds there had a single CACKLING GOOSE in with the Canadas. I came across some good size herds of Tundra Swan, with one c. 1500 birds.

I stopped by Salisbury Landfill but could find nothing rarer than 6 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (pairs of first winter, second winter and adult). After spending around 90 minutes at the Kingbird spot I went on to Blackwater, unsuccessfully searching amongst the Canadas for a White-front and the blackbird flocks for a Yellow-headed. I could only find 3 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, perhaps they too were sheltering from the wind somewhere. Final stop was at the Choptank in Cambridge, where I found both Greater (very few) and Lesser (many) Scaup, Canvasback, Common Goldeneye, Long-tailed Duck and Surf Scoter.
