Hi folks,

Mom & I decided to use the outrageously good weather to our advantage today. We set off for Princess Anne environs for the Tropical Kingbird - Not. However, the area was quite lovely and we enjoyed some good looks at a Kestral and many Bluebirds.

We passed by Blackwater on our way to Hoopers Island. Stopped to watch the single largest flock of mixed blackbirds we had ever seen at the intersection of Egypt & Key Wallace roads. I think that 1,000,000 birds may actually be an underestimate. At the end of Key Wallace road, a large bird briefly popped up and we both said "Eagle!" Then I realized it was a juvenile Golden Eagle - nicest bird of the day. On to Hoopers Island for the collared doves. Whiffed on those, but the crab cakes at Old Salty were well worth the trip.

Back at Balckwater, the goal was ducks, any ducks, as we had seen nearly none all day, and the white pelicans. Eventually we saw the pelicans, but were puzzled by the nearly total lack of ducks - had lots of Mallards with a few shovelers, but that was it. Lots and lots of water, nearly no ducks.
