Got to get some birding in this morning, we had mostly the usual suspects at my feeders and yard, many of my regulars were conspicuously absent - No HOSPs! Carolina Wren (pr), Cardinals (3 pr), Northern Flicker, Downy Woodpecker (pr), Tufted Titmouse (4-5) and White Breasted Nuthatch (1) I didn't even hear the titmouse or nuthatch, though I did hear the Hermit Thrush (never can catch a glimpse of him) and either a flicker or pileated woodpecker (think the pileated).

  ***Around My Feeders and Yard****

Red Bellied Woodpecker 2-3 saw 2, heard 3
"Red" Finches 2 a pair, purple I think
  Dark Eyed Junco 4-5
White Throated Sparrows 3-4 at feeder, but heard more around
2 Blue Jays many fewer than usual
2 Mockingbirds they've been absent for a while
  2 Chickadees usually 3, with 4-5 titmice
8 CEDAR WAXWINGS in my White Oak - a first for me
  Crows 2-3
Red Winged Black Birds 16 didn't come to feeder today, just lurked in trees
  Mourning Dove 1
6-10 ROBINS some singing the spring/summer territory song
  Goldfinch 1
Canada Geese a little flock of 20 or so flew over

  ****Walking to and at Beach*****
BROWN HEADED COWBIRDS - a flock of 30 haven't seen any in ages
  Cedar Waxwings 3
Robins 4, 2, 1 (groups of) LOTS of Robins this am, they were everywhere
Cardinals 5 (males) in one bush alone, 10 all told mostly males
  Red Bellied Woodpecker 1
  Goldfinch 2,3
  Purple Finch 2 pair, together
  Swamp Sparrow 1
  House Sparrow - 5
  Junco 2
  Blue Jay only 1...
  Mockingbird 1
  Starlings 10

Lastly 1 unidentified sparrow-type bird that sang a lovely song but wasn't a song or field sparrow, I can't figure out what it was, will go hunt again later maybe

Offshore there were a jillion Bufflehead, 5-10 somethings with merganser-like profiles, too far out for my bins, I think some scoters as well; the usual large raft of blackish "ducks" with the golden eyes were not there today or not in close anyway.

And finally, I heard another Hermit Thrush (doing his best Veery imitation) but couldn't find him either, much to my annoyance.

  Happy Birding
