Craig Lee, Sandy Tassel, and I saw a Red-throated Loon at Hains Point, DC, this morning. It was swimming and diving in Washington Channel. We also saw a group of 40+ Red-breasted Mergansers actively diving southeast of Hains Point and moving rapidly to the southeast in the Potomac River. A bicyclist reported a Brown Thrasher to us. We had at least one Merlin perched across Washington Channel from us. All scaup we saw well were Lessers.
