Around 3 PM Mark Linardi and I saw 2 Greater White-fronted Geese at the Study Road pond in Carroll Co. They were together in the midst of many Canada Geese at the edge of the pond. There were probably 500-1000 Canada Geese overall with most of them in the fields rather than in the pond. The female Goldeneye, an American Wigeon, and about 10 Hooded Mergansers were also there. We first tried for the White-fronts in the late morning without success. Between visits to the pond we checked for Short-eared Owls on Pumping Station Road in nearby Adams Co Pennsylvania, but did not see any.
